I hope to explain how to navigate and use the Awana Resource & Tool webpage, also known as ART. Be aware that this is a new feature and not everything is 'up and running' I have noticed. This site links you to the Awana tools and resources PLUS keeps your Awana Leadership Records. A new point system is used to show your progress and achievements. The points are called RIU's.
RIU's are Rorheim Institute Units, ...like 'points'...'credits'. Art Rorheim is the founder of Awana and the Roheim Institute was created specifically to train Awana Leaders, to help them as they in turn reach more kids for Christ!
Here are the steps to follow:
EDIT: Oct.1, 2009
Your email address is your user name.
On your FIRST visit, you will be asked to change your PASSWORD.
If you missed the email with the password, simply click "Forgot Password" and a new one will be issued to you.
Then you enter the site using your email address as USERNAME and the new PASSWORD you just created.
TIP: Bookmark the login page with your username and password SAVED. Easy as pie later to re-enter the site.
Notice the navigation bar. Leader Resources is where most of older web tools are located. Explore and Discover !
Follow the link to PROFILE page and enter what you wish there. The 'red' highlighted boxes are required to be filled.
Look at left side of page and click "Course Catalog". Here is listed all of the available courses that you may be eligible for. When you click a course, it will open up and you can read the details. At the bottom of the page, there is a "New Training Tracker button, click that, fill in the info boxes and submit. (Hint...you can start typing your name and it will show short list of names similar to yours, very convenient).
Once approved, you receive points/credits, or RIU's for that course. Be sure to READ the course requirements. Some courses you only enter a '1' and some you enter the number of years. You can re-edit any mistakes.
Do not worry about submitting the actual dates of past achievements. The "today's" date is fine here.
All courses have a credit value and the higher the total of credits, the longer you have served and/or more courses you have achieved.
The new Leader badges available at Awana office have a place to put your RIU's on it. I know that we are here to serve God first and foremost, but awarding and recognizing faithful service is needed too I think.
The "My Transcripts" link shows your progress and accomplishments.
I have entered what info I have of your service(s) to give you a headstart. (Most is done for you already). But what I need is for you to check behind me and see if I missed some things. If I did miss some, just enter them yourself or if it is easier, make a list of past achievements and give to me. I have a printout of your service record in the Awana office to help you.
Once all leader achievements have been entered, updating yearly will be a breeze.
If this is MORE than what you want to do here, that is OK. I can get most of the info in for you.
